为让中学生认识我国文化瑰宝《道德经》，弘扬中国传统文化，配合特区政府推行德育教育的施政方针，本会及澳门道乐团于2011年成功举办了首届《道德经》中学生校际歌唱比赛，深获社会人士、学校师生、传媒的赞许，对本地区学生的德育发展起着积极的推动作用。
为此，2012年本会及澳门道乐团除继续举行《道德经》中学生校际歌唱比赛外，并增设《道德经》中学生个人歌唱比赛。参赛队伍及学生以粤语及普通话分别演唱《道德经》第八十一章及第八章，该两章曲谱由澳门道乐团音乐总监、原武汉音乐学院道教音乐研究室主任、原中国传统仪式音乐研究中心副主任王忠人副教授创作撰写。
