《道德經》為春秋時代老子所著，存世二千多年，五千言字字珠璣，是我國一部哲學、社會學、政治學及軍事學的不朽巨著。《道德經》博大精深的思想，已成為中國深厚傳統文化不可或缺的部分，其提出的和諧理念和精神境界，正好符合構建和諧及小康社會的實踐之道。
為讓中學生認識我國文化瑰寶《道德經》，弘揚中國傳統文化，配合特區政府推行德育教育的施政方針，本團於2011及2012年成功舉辦了《道德經》中學生校際及個人歌唱比賽，深獲社會人士、學校師生、傳媒的讚許，對本地區學生的德育發展起着積極的推動作用。
2013年本團除舉行《道德經》中學生校際歌唱比賽外，並設男女組合比賽，參賽隊伍及男女組合學生以粵語及普通話分別演唱《道德經》第二十五章及第四十九章，該兩章曲譜由本團音樂總監、原武漢音樂學院道教音樂研究室主任、原中國傳統儀式音樂研究中心副主任王忠人副教授創作撰寫。
